Free Agents - Who's Available at QB and RB
Here I break down what's happening, although by the time you've finished reading, things may have changed. Good luck!
Quarterbacks
- Malik Willis - The $30 million guy. The future Super Bowl MVP. The Greatest of all Time, Willdawg. If Willis ends up on the Cardinals, I fully support their decision.
- Jimmy Garoppolo - Are we still doing this?
- Aaron Rodgers - Everyone, (especially Steelers fans) seem to only remember the 4 wins in 5 games the team threw together to sneak into the playoffs last year. The early part of the season was a stinker. Steelers have a new coaching staff and are scrambling for WR help to let grandpa have one more year in the sun.
- Joe Flacco - Watching Flacco last year, I have no idea how he does it. A team in need of a short term fix would have to think about it.
- Anthony Richardson - Richardson is a project, but some think he's a worthwhile one. He is rumored to favor a coach who he can develop under above everything else, and is open to backup roles.
- Daniel Jones - Technically available, though received the transition tag. Teams can sign him longterm, but the Colts have the ability to match.
Expected Cuts
- Kyler Murray - A lot of chatter about how he'll be in a better spot, but he had PLENTY of chances in Arizona. Throwing to Justin Jefferson would be nice, though.
- Justin Fields - Not sure where he goes from here. Certainly not a starting role.
- Tua Tagovailoa - Tua's career has gone off the rails. He had 15 picks this year, some of them being especially atrocious. The 2023 season where he threw for 4624 yards and 29 TDs seems long, long ago. If he can land in an offense where he throws the ball within 2 seconds to a spot, and isn't required to read the defense effectively, he could be fine.
- Geno Smith - The Geno haters came out last year. He was fighting an uphill battle, but there wasn't much to like. I do expect his next spot to be better for him, but you cannot expect a starting role.
Trade Candidates
- Kirk Cousins
- McCorkle Jones
- Derek Carr
Running Backs
- Breece Hall- my poor boy, likely to be tagged by the Jets, will never experience a normal offense on a competent football team. Dynasty managers are in absolute hell.
- Travis Etienne - ETN played with renewed confidence under freshman head coach Liam Coen and he had almost 1400 rushing + receiving yards, a stark contrast to his 2024 season, but very much in line with his 2022 and 2023. Where will he land? He's been linked to interest by the Chiefs, Saints, Broncos, and Giants. His next team could drive a massive swing in fantasy value.
- Kenneth Walker - Does he finally get bell cow status? Do the Seahawks resign him?
- Tyler Allgeier - One of the more intriguing RBs this year. He wants feature back status, but that will be difficult to find. A bruiser, he could be fun to watch paired with almost any flashier RB in the league.
- J.K. Dobbins - Does anyone trust JK Dobbins enough to give him the keys? I don't think so. He seems likely to end up in a timeshare situation
- Rico Dowdle - Dowdle had flashes earlier in the season, but ypc over the long run fell. His advanced stats were ugly.
- Kenneth Gainwell - Gainwell made the best of a bad situation last year, outplaying 3rd round rookie Kaleb Johnson so thoroughly that Johnson barely saw the field and was inactive for a number of games at the end of the season. Gainwell is a pass catching back, but getting up there in age. He could be a sneaky fit in many backfields (Chiefs, anyone?)
- Brian Robinson Jr. - The B-Rob believers expected big things when he was traded to the 49ers, but Robinson had minimal impact. I do not expect him to have much of a market in 2026.
- Rachaad White - I honestly don't know where White fits. White, now 27, had a promising 2023 season and has pass catching ability, but as soon as Bucky Irving arrived, he took a back seat.
Expected Cuts
- Aaron Jones
- James Conner
